I think a lot of libraries are looking into various scenarios involving reference books, whether to circulate some or all, whether to weed some or all. With so much information available either on the open web or through proprietary databases, having all those big books on the shelves may not be necessary anymore.

I'm just curious why you make patrons bring their media from other locations to the circ desk rather than the drop box. Or is that the policy for all media? Why? Damage control?

about 15 yrs. ago, i did this 42 mile charity bike ride on chicago's lakefront. there were water/refreshment stations set up about every 10 miles. the chiquita bananas were the absolute perfect ripeness and i ate 7 that day.

If you look very closely at this old picture, http://www.flickr.com/photos/bookgeek/477619665/, you will see that all three children have banana stickers in the middle of their foreheads. This is a long family tradition. The luchador stickers would have been even better.
