ABOUT

aaron pop artwhere: SE Portland, Oregon

work: i’m the digital initiatives librarian for the district of columbia public library and a lecturer at the University of Washington’s iSchool. i also do technology consulting for libraries and speak at library conferences and staff days. here’s my professional bio which includes some pictures of me.

play: as often as possible! i work out at crossfit portland and ride my bikes quite a bit. currently it is skiing season and that makes me happy.

why ‘walking paper:’ when i started this blog i was thinking about IM and SMS in libraries a lot. these things are like active, animated paper to me. get it? the title is one letter away from ‘walking papers’ which is supposed to be some clever word smithing related to the perceived threat of ‘technology’ putting libraries out of business. there’s a reason for the name that i’ve not told anyone. if you can guess it i’ll give you a prize.

lack of capital letters and serifs: just me being picky.

likes: coffee, bicycles, macbook pros, selvage denim, simple
dislikes: sprawl, jazz, fusion food
